James Clear in a recent newsletter suggested that we have Self Talk Strategies. Self-Talk is the inner voice that keeps running in our head, guides us or sometimes even argues with us. I was only aware of Self-Talk in Positive or Negative form. So when James wrote about it, I loved it. I do believe the strategies can help you move in the right direction.
Sticking to a habit or pursuing a long term goal needs a lot of pep talk. After the initial motivation burst, our brain slowly realizes that to pursue the goal, it requires the change and it can be daunting for it. That’s when a little self-talk can help you ease it.
Another place where self-talk can be extremely powerful is when you want to push yourself outside the comfort zone. It can be as simple as trying something new and overcoming an existing fear.
Of course none of this is as easy but with a little persistence you can pull it off too.
Do you engage in self-talk? What other strategies would you recommend?
