Your happiness is in your hands; it’s a choice. It’s easy to say, “If only I could get <a desire>, then I’d be so much happier.” All that does is send us on a wild goose chase. Even if we achieve that desire, sooner or later, we’ll be back in the same state, creating a new “I’ll be happy when I get <a new desire>.”
Naval, instead, proposes that happiness is a choice. It’s not an external goal to be pursued. He offers a five-point system to achieve happiness, if you want it. It begins with fulfilling basic desires and extends to creating a personal mission beyond yourself. I love this SketchNote of mine, and I refer to it once in a while.
