We have read about the power of showing up daily in some form or the other. James Clear’s Atomic Habits calls it out as Power of Tiny Gains, there are blog posts where people have called out the importance of the same with some examples. I absolutely believe in that theory too. So today’s blog post is dedicated to this principle of showing up daily and how consistency pays off in the long run.

I started SketchNoting in late 2022 and picked it up as a daily habit in early 2023. We started the #MayISketch Challenge in 2023 and recently completed the 2024 edition with the same themes and almost the same prompts. When I look back at the SketchNotes I drew, I can see great improvement for myself and that’s what I want to showcase today.

On the left hand side will be the SketchNote I created in 2023 compared to the 2024 edition. You can hover the sliders to compare the two images.

Immediately one can notice, improved handwriting, visual library, more vibrant through the use of colours, use of highlights, shadows and many other tiny improvements. All this was possible only through deliberate practice, experimentation and most important, Showing up daily.

Thank you for visiting this post and I hope it inspires you to show up daily for the skill you want to improve. Do you have your own story to tell? Or Interested in joining our SketchNote community, Feel free to connect with me.

Last year, I even compared the improvements in my SketchNoting skills over a year in my post: The Power of Showing up Daily […]
