SketchNote for Goals and Barriers, a visual Framework as described in the book Presto Sketching

Presto Sketching by Ben Crothers is an essential book for all visual thinkers. It’s packed with great tips on how to draw, as well as brilliant frameworks that you can apply in your personal life and in the workspace.

Kumar brought up the Goals and Barriers framework in one of our weekly warmup sessions, and I found it so interesting that it was the reason I got the book in the first place! Nevertheless, I SketchNoted it out again after reading about it in the book.

The Goals and Barriers framework is a simple, yet powerful approach to achieving your objectives. It helps you visualize where you want to go and what’s holding you back. The basic idea is to literally draw a Goal and then draw the Barriers that stand in your way. Seeing them clearly on paper is the first big step toward figuring out how to overcome them!

We also used this same visual framework for the TED Talk, “5 Hindrances to Self Mastery” by Shi Heng Yi. It’s an easy-to-use guide to get one going and moving forward.

I’m sure many of you are already working on your 2026 Goals, but let’s be honest—some of them might have a few barriers in the way! Do give this framework a try and let me know how it works for you. I hope you find this Sketchnote useful!

PS: A.I was used to check grammar in this post. The Framework, the SketchNote and the blog contents were all created with love and passion by a Human
